Soprano Andrianna Smela and pianist/accordionist Maria Dessena met in 1996 as freshman music students at Indiana University, where they quickly became friends and collaborators. Kurt Weill's "Je ne taime pas" and "My Ship" became a staple of their repertoire in those early days. After moving to New York in 2000, Smela and Dessena have brought their take on Weill to the masses, performing at the Liederkrantz Club, Metropolitan Room, Merkin Hall, NY Singers Forum and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
